The King of the Comets

We all know that Khenpo Rinpoche, while being a meditation master, also had a playful, child-like enthusiasm.

The photo here, of Khenpo Rinpoche with a gift box labeled, “The King of the Comets” was contributed by longtime student Doc Werner. He writes:

“That photo was from Tampa KTC (Karma Thegsum Chöling) … a 1986 retreat weekend at the home of Cralle Hall. It was a beautiful telescope we purchased for him. I was being playful and wrote that label fondly on the gift. I still think of him as “The King of the Comets” like “The Gift of the Magi” or something like that.”

Did Rinpoche get to use his present while at Cralle’s lake house in south Florida? Doc continues:

“You know how he was. He was always like a curious youngster. We set it up on the dock one night and saw amazing stars. He was very excited.”

The image of Khenpo Rinpoche standing on the Tampa KTC’s boat dock in the dark gazing in wonder at the stars is a beautiful image. May it bless you, Doc – now and always. #KKRLove
