Prayers to Calm Our Anger

During the years before Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche passed away, he gave quarterly weekend programs at KTD on the written works of Karma Chakme Rinpoche.

During one of those weekends, someone asked how to deal with their animosity toward a certain politician – a politician who, the questioner said, was “causing harm in the public sphere.”

Khenpo Rinpoche replied that when such animosity arises, it’s important to work with it, lest the animosity become a cause for negative karma on the part of the person engendering the animosity.

Prayer for the politician was urged, and when the questioner asked “how do we pray for such a person?” Khenpo Rinpoche spoke this prayer spontaneously.

A volunteer from the Ann Arbor KTC found the prayer very helpful and created the prayer card you see here. May it help us calm our anger in these turbulent times, and may it be of benefit to everyone who sees it!
